Who is the biggest loser?

Only 4 participants (not enough to turn into an interesting reality TV show);
involving 4 female pediatric doctors who desperately need to shed off their very stubborn extra kilos.

The winner will get RM400, just nice to buy a decent pair of shoes (or skirt, you know who you are).

The competition started last week and will end just before Raya.
Sorry Chiam, you just have to fast along with us if you want to win :p

Guilty as charged!

I am depressed lately as I couldn't buy Longchamp handbag coz I did not pass my exam by only few marks (wiping tears). RM2500 just went down the drain :(

I desperately needed some sugar and comfort food. So I decided to order these sinfully delicious food for my Friday luncheon with my colleagues. *Luncheon konon, padahal makan dalam bilik oncall senyap2 with colleagues at the same time overdosed with hospital gossips*

Anyway, these were delivered right to our door step. Thanks Azlin for the luscious treats... hehehe. We couldn't even snap a picture as we were all famished, sooo busy eating (and gobbling up) that everything gone in split seconds!

Very rich Chicken Lasagna
Seriesly sedap Shepherds (cottage) Pie
Mini Quiches
 Chicken Wing (finger licking good!)
and super duper moisty Chocolate Cupcakes!

FYI.. On cerelac

As a doctor, I received free trial boxes of Cerelac from Nestle. So I was excited to let Hana get the taste of it since she is getting tired of avocado, apple etc..

However, I just realized that Cerelac Stage 2 (and several types of stage 1) contained cows milk. No wonder Hana, who suffers from cows milk protein allergy developed rashes soon after eating the cereal. How sad, since she just enjoyed them.

I guess it's back to plain rice cereal + fruit/vege puree combo and porridge then..

Nak makan..

I've been wanting to eat Japanese food since last week. I haven't had them in ages as when I was pregnant, the sight of sushi or oyster really2 turned me off.

My hubby sadly just cannot understand why ppl like to gobble up anything raw and uncooked. Therefore, I turned to my friends or my sister as eating partner.

Last week me and Chiam, my colleague cum partner in crime were planning to have lunch at Shogun, OU for our weekly friday outing unfortunately we sidetracked and 'terbabas'ed at Bubba Gump, The Curve. I swear, someone forced me to eat seafood baked rice soaked in rich parmesan cheese :p

Anyways, this coming Friday, Shogun.. here we come!!

Introducing solids.. yummy..

I started weaned Hana at 5 1/2 months old. She has all the signs of readiness for solids - doubled her birth weight, loss of tongue thrust reflex, can sit with support and seemed interested in what others are eating.

Since Hana has cow's milk protein allergy, I was very cautious in introducing her solid food for fear of food allergy. Thus, I strictly followed the 4 days rule, giving her single kind of food every 4 days and looked for any signs of intolerance.

Initially, she squirmed and spit out everything that I spooned in but what do I expect? Having only milk all her 5 months life, I guess, as bland as rice cereal, it still tasted weird to her.

On weekends, I spent few minutes preparing fresh pureed food and stored them in the freezer for the next week consumption. Avocado and banana are the easiest as I can simply mash them and they are ready to be eaten. Apart from that, I baked sweet potato, and steamed carrots as well as green peas with zucchini. Unfortunately zucchini and avocado are quite difficult to get as they are only available at Cold Storage (.. avocado is not that cheap, bought it for RM5 sebiji!). If I'm too lazy, I still sought for Heinz bottled food.

Peach, apple and pear trio.. unfortunately Hana has apple allergy!

My wonderful baby cubes.. inside are frozen peas zucchini medley

So far, Hana has been on 'makanan pelengkap' for over 3 weeks. She enjoyed food tremendously and eats twice a day. I noticed that she likes anything green particularly avocado and green peas zuchini medley and is allergic to apple and pumpkin. Surprisingly she doesn't like orange coloured food and will only take less than 5 spoons before shutting her mouth or turning away.

An empty bowl

My dear friend suggested BCC (broccoli+ cauliflower+carrot) which her son loved but I read somewhere that B and C are quite gassy. I probably withold BCC for the next couple of months since Hana fart a lot =__=

I did not realize it until I write this entry.. of all food, I have not actually tried homemade rice prorridge :p

Anyways, have you tried baby led weaning? Try google it if you have never heard of BLW. The concept make sense to me. I am ready to feed her finger food straight away but I don't think my maid is. So I'll probably stick to the old pureed food for Hana and maybe try BLW for my next baby. We'll see..

Project Mega..

I'm planning to take the next 2 days off before my 41 weeks check up with Dr Idora. Since today is my sister in law's birthday, what I have in mind is to bake her a chocolate cupcakes with cream cheese icing (u can never go wrong with chocs and cheese). I'll be seeing her for our annual buka puasa at Islamic Arts Museum KL this coming Saturday and I shall give her the cuppies as a present. It is not an expensive gift but at least it is the thots and efforts that count, rite?!!

Before I start my Projek Memasak, I have to buy few baking items: the main ingredients, cupcake trays and cases and not to forget a MIXER! I'm ashamed to admit this but I do not own a mixer. Someone must have forgot to buy me one as a wedding present 2 years ago..hahah. The only baking that I did these past few years was only bread and butter pudding as well as blueberry muffins (i did once after I bought a 'how to bake muffins' book from MPH) and that only requires manual (hand) mixing!

A very cute pink kithen aid

Hmm.. I will definitely post the picture later of how my cupcakes look like (if it turned out okay just like in the recipe book) :p

If I just keep quiet, please assume that something went awfully wrong with the cuppies while I was baking (such as I broke my water bag and went into labour) and NOT that the cuppies burnt in the oven :P

Wish me luck!!

Best place for Iftar..

Last year's Iftar with family

I love Ramadhan month for many reasons. Apart from what it meant for us Muslims, I feel that this holy month brings families and friends closer especially for a planned Iftar get together.

I'm deeply in a sad mood as most probably I won't be able to fast this year and join the iftar gatherings .. and... on top of that, I will definitely have to ganti posa SEBULAN! huhuhuhu..

Anyways, one of the best place that me and my family love to go every year for buka puasa is Museum of Islamic Arts restaurant. We really enjoy middle eastern cuisines especially their main dish like lamb kebab and traditional sweets like baklava and etc... The price is quite acceptable as Middle Eastern Food mmg expensive: RM 77 for adult and 45 for kids less than 12 y.o
.
The seats are of limited number, so tak la ramai sangat orang. No need to berebut2 ambik makanan or worry that they run out of food. The surau is nearby to perform your Maghrib prayer and for Tarawikh, Masjid Negara is just across the street!

I'm sure you have your own favourite place for Iftar with your loved ones (our parents house not included ya). Do share with me coz I might balas dendam and pay a visit next year..heheh..

Last but not least, to family, friends and fellow bloggers: Selamat Berpuasa!

Hmm.. heavenly..

dessert— n
1. the sweet, usually last course of a meal
2. chiefly ( Brit ) (esp formerly) fruit, dates, nuts, etc, served at the end of a meal

Treasure box from Paddington House of Pancake: yummy!

Molten Larva from Chilli's: to die for!

Cuppies from delicious: heavenly..

New gastronomical discovery, Whoopie pie!!! a very sinful chocolaty pleasure!

http://shoppingqueen78.blogspot.com/search/label/Whoopie%20Pies
(p/s Thanks KS, noticed that 2 whoppies already disappeared? They were gone even before we left Putrajaya..heheh)

I have a confession to make. I have the biggest sweet tooth that when it comes to desserts, I can never say NO! I noticed that since I'm pregnant, most of my cravings are in the form of cakes, cuppies, ice cream, choccies, puddings, triffles, fruits and even traditional Malay (lompat tikam) / Indian (ghulab jamun)/ Middle Eastern kuehs. I can't help myself and thank god that I don't have gestational diebetes for eating too much of these rich offerings. Not guilty though, alasan yg paling munasabah-> pregnant.. hhahahah.

Unfortunately, I'm not born with a skill (or kerajinan) of a baker. I love to eat but I'm too lazy to cook and clean up the mess. The only thing that I make (time and time again) are triffle and bread & butter pudding coz my hubby loves em soo much.

I just browsed through few cupcake blogs and just can't help myself but be amazed with these bloggers passion and creativity in baking (my friend, Dr Ezura included). I got so excited looking at all the yummy cuppies and cakes that I even ordered 2 blueberry cheese brownies for raya from Chomel Cupcakes at http://chomelcupcakes.blogspot.com/! (Dah boleh makan ke sumer2 nih at 21 days postpartum??)

Bestnya kalau rajin and pandai memasak. I went thru few cupcake recipes and find em not that difficult to make except for the decoration which I think requires certain acquired skills.

My azams after I deliver are:
1) Raise my baby well
2) Produce enough breast milk for BF
3) Learn on baby sleep routine
4) Study for my part 2A paediatric exam in December 2010
- that means a lot of books to read and questions to do.. huhuhuh
5) And finally, belajar buat cuppies, or better, attend class buat cuppies!

Banyaknye nak kena buat and I'm a bit scared as I'm a poor multitasker.

Wish me luck yer.. wink wink..!

What's for dinner?

I was on leave today as I had antenatal check up with Dr Idora at PMC in the afternoon. I've been wanting to have north indian cuisine since last week and today, my wish came true. After Ahmad came back from work, we headed straight to Passage Thru India located at Bukit Damansara.

This place was introduced by my ex-classmate when we had our mini reunion here few months ago. Though the menu appeared Greek to me, but I already know which dish to order.

For tonight's dinner, me and hubby had Briyani with Mutton, Chicken Tika, Palak Paneer (my favourite) and a cup of Indian coffee. The place is on the pricy side but it was totally worth it as the food were really yummy. If you decide to go there, please share your food as the servings are quite a lot for one person. Don't be surprised with the parking fee: RM 5 per entry!
