Birthday celebration

Salam,

We are suppose to go to Singapore this week for a family holiday. Flight tickets were purchased long time ago but little did I know that time that I'll be pregnant and my health doesn't permit me to travel long distance at this moment. Well takde rezeki and  burn aje la Air Asia tickets tu. 

We've decided to celebrate my coming birthday at somewhere near and that means Port Dickson! Avillion unfortunately is fully booked, Grand Lexis is overpriced at RM800++ per room during school holidays and that leaves me with a final option of choosing Thistle PD. 

Weather forecasts that today will be cloudy / sunny but no rain. Alhamdulillah, we will be able to enjoy our time in the sun. At this hour, Hana is still asleep and I can hear my hubby snores. I'm hungry and still suffering from bad hunger pangs  that I need to eat every 4 hours! I'm sure I'll start to put on weight in no time. I feel like eating roti canai at kedai mamak near our house. Well, I'll give my hubby few more minutes before I start  waking and bugging him to teman me for breakfast. 

I need to focus.. seriously!

Assalamualaikum everyone.. 

Sorry for not updating this blog for a very long time. I've been wanting to write something for ages but instead, I felt guilty. 

I've passed my exam recently, MRCPCH Part 2A , and for that, syukur Alhamdulillah yang tak terhingga. The first feeling that I had after discovering the result was totally opposite of euphoria. I was anxious and scared instead for what awaits me next, the clinical exam which will be much3 tougher mentally, physically and knowledge wise. I can't afford to waste any more time in front of the telly or PC as I should be spending my time studying for my exam. 

My UIA senior, a young enthusiastic pediatrician told me that I need to spend at least 1 year ahead to prepare as MRCPCH 2B is a totally different game. It is definitely not easy and there is no such thing as luck. No more relaxing weekends, no more sleep during postcall hours, no more lepaking as I will only have one precious opportunity to pass. Mind you,  I have to spend RM15k for the exam which will take place in UK and I can't afford to waste more money should I fail.

At the same, I'm thinking of an addition to our family. My adorable little girl Hana is reaching 15 months and I think it's about time that she share her toys and books with her sibling (plus I am not getting any younger!). Family planning has to wait until after I pass my exam coz I really cannot take any further distraction. I feel bad enough for not spending enough quality time with my girl and her papa dan I tak sanggup nak rasa serba salah to another human being should I bear another child at this moment in time. Babies will require a lot of attention, what with breast feeding, not enough sleep etc...

So my friend, I'll be closing down this blog temporarily for all the above reasons. I'll try to update once in a while if I have the time. Till then, please2 pray for my success of becoming a pediatrician. See ya and may Allah bless you..

Demm..

I am supposed to attend macarons baking class tomorrow. Unfortunately I got a call this afternoon that the class is cancelled as the chef fall sick. I was so looking forward to learn how to make macarons for a long time since it is quite expensive and I would rather make it my own. So I am pretty sad that it got postponed to a later date. 


On the other hand, I have lots of things to do tomorrow. The list includes catching up with sleep (priority number uno), shop for a car seat for my colleague's newborn baby and to redeem our dinner voucher from Legend KL which will expire in 2 weeks' time. 


I'll be oncall on Sunday (so not looking forward to this!) and will not be able to make it for my ex-school mate's wedding in Bukit Jelutong itself..

Shhh..

Baik tuan-tuan dan puan-puan, abang, kakak dan adik. Sila perlahankan suara ya, as I am currently in study mode. Exam bulan September dan saya kena korek poket dan dompet, cari duit sen-sen yang bersepah-sepah untuk cukupkan RM2.5k sebagai yuran peperiksaan tu. Kalau tak pass, duit tu kira burn je dan omputeh kat UK tu sedap-sedap je dapat makan duit yuran yang kita bayar dengan titik peluh sendiri.


Saya tak mampu fail lagi sebab kena cepat-cepat ambik clinical exam agar dapat menjadi specialist segera. Duit gaji sebagai MO cikai ni hanya cukup untuk hidup berserderhana, tak dapat nak bermewah-mewahan. Selain itu, saya dah berjanji dengan diri sendiri yang jikalau saya lulus exam kali ini, saya dapat membeli handabg Longchamp yang dah lama saya idamkan.


Okay ya, makcik pakcik sekelian. Sila beri kerjasama ya... Senyap semua sebab saya tengah beri tumpuan sepenuhnya terhadap buku depan mata  bertajuk Paediatric Exams, A Survival Guide oleh Encik Paul Gaon.


Harap maklum... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

Lazy mode..

When I was a houseman in my mid twenties, doing every other day calls (EOD) was routine and sleeping for only an hour or less within 48 hours was nothing. I was like ' bring it on' mode all the time. So enthusiastic, so bertenaga and so naive... 


Nowadays, being over 30 years old, age already took a toll on me. I'm getting old and tired. I'll be anxious, having palpitation and insomnia a day ahead (famously called pre-call blues). Never can I do sleepless calls or else I'll have this zombie don't piss me off face the next day. 


Sigh.. and I'm oncall tomorrow. Haihhh.. my misery never ends :(

I'm baaaack..

I just arrived home from a one night stay at Port Dickson. It was fun despite a minor mishap. I'll update later as I'm still waiting for the pictures to be transferred to my PC.

Anyway, I am really really exhausted from the trip. I could use a nap but my maid is not around today to take care of Hana.. sigh...

Gosh, I am really stressed up as my exam is just around the corner. Itu la, sape suruh study last minute??!. Now I am suffering and on the verge of a nervous breakdown!

Esok cuti

I am supposed to be on one day study leave tomorrow but I have so many unfinished business to settle. 


What I plan to do first thing in the morning is to send Hana and my bibik over to my sister's place in KD and off to Maybank next to Sri KDU to cash in my bankdrafts of 2500 UK pounds and 250 Singapore dollar (u will understand if u read my previous tragic entry). 


I'll probably have 2 hours to do my revision ( maybe I'll hang out at Starbucks Dataran Sunway for a much needed cuppa) before I'll be on the go to collect my mom's take out from Passage Thru India for a small luncheon at my parents' in Bangi (my dad is celebrating his guests from Egypt and my mom is unwell to cook). 


Lepas tu, I thot of lepak mana2 to study while enjoying a mug of hot chocolate and later by 5pm, I have fetch Hana home.


Sigh.. it'll be a long day ahead tomorrow (with a dreadful feeling)..

Courier service yg tak blh diguna pakai

I guess all of you would know by now that I'll be sitting for my MRCPCH Part 2A exam next month. Before this, the 2A exam is only being held 3 times in a year, April in Singapore and September and December exam in Kuala Lumpur. 


So I mati2 ingatkan I kena pegi all the way to Singapore to sit for it. Siap dah buat bank draft 510 pound sterling and 250 Singapore dollar. I filled up the application forms and couriered everything to National University of Singapore 2 weeks before the closing date. 


Only a week before the dateline that I just realized that the format has changed. Now cuma twice a year, April and September and both boleh sit kat KL!!! So, I was really menggelabah giler coz I already posted the forms and the fees to NUS. Of course I don't want to go to Singapore since I have to spend a hefty amount on the accommodation and transportation. Kalau nak pegi holiday tu takpela kalau nak belanja beribu raban. Tapi kalau setakat nak travel just to sit for one day exam, tak sanggup la nak membazir since we, doctors don't make that much of money :(


Luckily Mr Arthur Lim (the correspondent from NUS) said he'll return everything once he got the documents with no extra charge.. phewwhhh.. After 2 weeks of waiting, I still haven't receive my bank draft so I emailed Mr Arthur and to my surprise, he said that the documents did not actually reach them. What???? So what happen to the bank draft???Gosh, RM3000 is a lot of money to me, dah boleh bayar rumah, keta and insuran nyawa!


So I asked my hubby to check back with Citylink and track back our documents. Boleh diorang kata diorang tak tau and probably it got lost somewhere in Sabah! Pastu, after my hubby interrogate them again they changed the story saying that they actually got the track number wrong and my documents had safely arrive at NUS but orang lain yg receive, bukan Mr Arthur tu!


What the hell?! I yang memang sgt short tahap patience terus naik bengang. I said if it went MIA, Citylink ppl will definitely have to pay back the money including the damages yg I missed the dateline for the exam (padahal dah hantar forms utk sit kat KL..hahha..)


So, to cut the long story short, I received a phone call from this guy 2 days ago saying that they have finally found the document. He claimed that it was stranded in KLIA and the person who responsible for this was a troubled Bangladeshi worker yang tak tampal address tu betul2 and he already disappeared and did not show up for work for a while. Elleh.. I tau, saja je nak carik scapegoat lain.


So next time, Citylink, I blacklist you from my list of courier service okay!!

Sunday bliss..

I'm off this weekend.. yippee... So me, Mr hubby and our little Hana had our breakfast at Kopi Kaw, a new kopitiam just within walking distance from our house. 


Aaahhh.. I wish we can spend every morning like this rather then rushing to work and stressing ourselves trying to beat the early morning traffic jam.

We are sick..

After doing 2 calls in general ward and exposed to many sick kids.. this is what I get..


Cough cough.. sniff sniff.. Ehem ehem.. my throat is killing me. Sakit badan, sakit belakang.. Don't you just hate viral fever!


I'm on MC for 1 day and on regular paracetamol and actifed. The GP that I met today advised me to take lozenges and gargle as my throat was pretty bad he said. He wanted to prescribe augmentin (antibiotic) but I said hold on, I really think that it's just viral.


Anyways, it's okay if I'm sick but yikes, Hana starts sneezing and coughing.. Oh my.. not another bout of URTI  (3rd time for the last 6 months and she got 'em all from me!) Sorry Hana, I didn't mean to pass it to you :(

checklist

Things that need to be settled by next week:


1) Need to get the 3rd dose of DPT/Hib for Hana. I have been postponing it for 2 weeks :p

2) Buy Hana an 'L' size diapers as she already outgrown 'M' size (dok leaking kot belakang je) DONE

3) Email my poster presentation to Dr Joseph HKL for final approval DONE

4) Courier my MRCPCH exam form to Singapore no later than 1st Feb (before that, must fill form C and get Part 1 letter photocopied and signed) DONE

** all are top priorities!!**

I just can't stand it!!

I really hate the kind of people who throw up thrash out from their cars! I would definitely give them a honk if I see it happening right in front of my naked eyes. Really, really don't understand why they act like an a**h**.

I assumed the one behind the wheels are just plain STUPID, SELF-CENTRED and IGNORANT. I wonder, what value do they teach to their own kids.. that it's okay to buang sampah merata2 asalkan keta kiter bersih???

Shiiishh.. memang tak paham.

Worn out..

I almost forget that I have a blog to maintain.

I am so busy these days preparing for my CME/poster presentation while having to do calls. Not to forget, I really have to start studying as my exam is due in April. Being a poor multitasker, I am starting to feel mentally and physically exhausted.

Ya Allah, permudahkanlah urusan hamba mu ini....

My gastronomical adventure..

Gosh, I felt (so) guilty. I ate so much today that I think that I've put on another 1kg! My resolution of a slimmer me just went down the drain. Sigh.. not a good start to a brand new year ..

Breakfast: my mom pushed me to eat 1 bungkus of nasi lemak this morning (not that she actually forced it down my throat :p

Brunch: Went to a friend's aqiqah and though I wasn't hungry, but as a courtesy, I had to eat nasi beriani (which her mom made) and roasted lamb. They were yummy!

Lunch: My sis insisted for us to dine at Bubba Gump and we had baked rice soaked in rich parmesan cheese and a glass of smoothie! Very sinful indeed.

Tea time: We did not actually had tea but instead my sister belanja me a scoop of heavenly Baskin Robbin's ice cream!

I will definitely have to skip dinner or I will end up fat and ugly!!

Our Malaysian football team, did the country proud by winning the Suzuki AFF cup for the first time!
Kudos to them (clap clap) for a job well done.

I know everyone is jumping with joy as tomorrow is officially announced as public holiday. But I am not one of those happy people.

You know why???

I need to start studying and stop spending time in front of the PC!!

My MRCPCH exam is in 4 months time, though I haven't actually sign up for it yet. It would've cost me around RM2500 not including expenses for accomodation and transportation (exam is in Singapore unfortunately.. sigh). I haven't figure out how to juggle between study, work (+doing calls) and family. Note to myself: need to ask Putri and Azwini for tips!

As for now, I have to STOP blogwalking, facebooking and online shopping, though they are very very addictive. Hence, this entry will be my last post for this year and you won't be seeing me for quite a while.. I hope :p

By the way, what is your 2011 new year's resolution? Mine, I need to shed off some extra pounds and those unwanted post pregnancy fat. Thus, I have to stick to my minimal carbo diet and workout plan (though I do not have anything in mind yet). Wish me luck!!!
