Final Wedding

Oh well.. these pictures were taken during my youngest brother and sister's wedding reception which was held at a hall in Putrajaya last month. Alhamdulillah, everything went smoothly. My only regret was that we the siblings were too busy handling and entertaining the guests that we did not snap that many pictures of us. So sad...

I also remembered that I had to stand and walk for hours while had to carry this 4kg of excess baggage in my belly. As a result, I was really exhausted and left with 2 sore feet and backache the next day. Anything for my loved ones..

We attended a good colleague cum friend's wedding last night held at Tropicana Golf Resort, Petaling Jaya. Chee Hoe is a very nice, kind hearted person and we are all lucky to have met this guy. He finally got married to the love of his life, Jun Ai, a very cute lady whom I think matched each other well. 

We had great time meeting other ex colleagues, Chiam, Shikin and Dr Wong. I terribly miss all of them particularly Chiam as she was my best mate back in her Sg Buloh days. Of course we already put a plan for a weekend getaway sometime in June, before I deliver my 2nd one.

Mastermind

It seemed that when members of my family are getting married, I will definitely directly involved. I love doing all this planning stuff but it seemed very difficult lately due to my increasing belly size, my aches and pain, study, work and oncall and etc..

Thank god, my new inexperienced maid has arrived so at least I don't have to bother about laundry thingy. My partner in crime cum my elder sister has just recently delivered a cute baby boy so now I'm left alone with this job. 

I get calls from the future bride about which card to order, nak rent or tempah her wedding dress, order for doorgift and macam macam lagi. I also went to accompany my brother and his future wife to hunt for their attire to wear during the reception. Not that I grumble, I am more than happy to do it for my loved ones, but I'm feeling very2 tired these days. 

Next in the list is to order for Hana's custom made dress and to discuss with my brother/family accountant about the budget for the hall decoration. I need to settle all these by this weekend and put my focus back to my study.

Solemnization

Alhamdulillah, the nikah took place at home and went smoothly as planned. The wedding decorator did a great job with the mini dais and hantarans despite given 3 days notice. Oh how I love and adore pastel yellow theme. Doesn't it look just simple, serene and beautiful? I can't help it but to officiate the dais the night before with my hubby and Hana :)

Most of our close family members managed to attend the ceremony, again, despite receiving verbal invitation for Papa 2 days prior. Of course, there tend to be questions from them as it was such a short notice but everyone meant well and were happy for the both of them. Johan was alone as all his family members could not make it.

The ceremony was started with a short but meaningful sermon delivered by the Imam in Malay and Papa translated to English so than Johan could understand. It followed by the aqad nikah. We initially thought that the aqad will be done in English but Papa wasn't too sure about the lafaz and decided for it to said in Arabic. So Johan and Papa practised a couple of times few days ahead with a simpler lafaz which only consist of 5 words.

That historical day, Papa appeared more nervous than the groom and joked that he did not do this as a daily thing and the last aqad took place 4 years ago (during my wedding!). After 4 attempts (1st was my dad's mistake, 2nd time Johan became nervous, 3rd try was a smooth one but 4th lafaz was just to be sure), my sister finally became Johan's wife.

I wish both of them a wonderful and happy marriage. May Allah bless them always. 

The reception will be held in June next year together with my younger brother,  In Shaa Allah. I'm excited to plan for this event, the final wedding for our family!

Crazy time

I was really not looking forward to my weekend calls. My hyperemesis symptoms were really taking a toll on me. I was out of work for most days 2 weeks ago and again on sick leave for 2 days last week. So, when weekend call was approaching, I was so scared that I was having insomnia for days. 

Alhamdulillah, my weekend calls went on smoothly. The ward was not full and there were not many admissions. Most importantly, no ill kids! I was able to sleep and rest despite the headache and nausea.. Allah really had mercy on me.

I am now 11 weeks gestation. One more week to the end of 1st trimester. Really can't wait for all the queasy feeling to go away. The last scan that I did 2 days ago at DEMC showed that the fetus is growing well, all 2 kaki and tangan are showing and seemed to be actively moving. The heart beat is well visualised. I have not been taking my prenatal vitamins though as the thought of swallowing pills and fluid still causing me to throw up. On and off I still had to pop in folic acid just to ensure the health of my baby.

Now, I am planning a wedding, in 5 days time!!! Yes, amidst my morning sickness! My dad finally approved of my sister's relationship last Sunday after a meeting with her Swedish boyfriend at home. Johan really is a nice guy and has reverted to Islam 2 years ago. If Allah permits, they would like to nikah as soon as possible before the guy goes back to Sweden next week. My dad said okay and leave it in the hand Allah. So we went berserk and go all panicky to last minute arrange for wedding decorator, finding a nikah attire for both of them, and 1001 things to do!! Most importantly my sister need to settle their marriage documents by tomorrow in order for them to kahwin by this weekend. Cowboy kan!!!

If all goes well, I'll update their wedding pictures by next week. In Shaa Allah...

Wedding 102

Hi peeps.. I am really exhausted after my brother's reception last Saturday. It was an enjoyable one especially having our extended family gather together. There were few hiccups though.


First and foremost, the wedding decorator that we hired turned out to be such a disappointment. The dais was a disaster particularly the backdrop. Yes we did not pay that much for it but for 2k, nak post gambar pelamin kat sini pun I tak sanggup. It was horrendous I tell you that we had to improvise and used our curtain as the backdrop instead! 


The flowers that they use were the cheap ones and my flower arrangement was much2 better and kemas than theirs. The wedding favors that that we ordered also was really not worth it. The cupcakes was really2 bite size small that we had to rush over to Giant on the wedding day to buy Ferrero Rocher chocolates as an additional gift. So, as an advise to the b2b, always always meet your wedding decorator in person and discuss clearly the design that you want! There might be misunderstanding when you just communicate via email.


Secondly, our house got broken in on the wedding day it self. In the midst of all the chaos and commotions time bride and her rombongan sampai, some hamba Allah went up to the 1st floor of our house pretended to be one of the guests and stole credit cards, jewellery and cash. We only realized later that night when we found our cousin's purse under the sink inside the washroom. My mom lost some money and 2 rings, my brother's iphone 4 was taken and so did my SIL RM700 and my little niece's bracelet. The next day, my dad said orang surau kata same unfortunate event also happened at other ppl's kenduri in Bangi recently, the culprit brought along 2 kids so that she doesn't appear suspicious! Police report was lodged and we hope that the irresponsible person get caught.


Anyways, enjoy few of the pictures of our DIY project. I might not be blogging for a while though.. Selamat menjalani ibadah puasa and may us all make full use of the holy month Ramadhan...

Wedding 101

My elder brother is getting married today after Asr prayer. So last night, me and my sister Kak Ninie went all out to prepare 3 hantarans for his bride. Initially, we wanted to give 9 dulang hantaran but finally decided to give 3 today for the nikah and will bring another 9 tomorrow during the reception. 


We opted for pink theme and after purchasing all the wanted fresh flowers at Floristika, we began the operasi menggubah. It initially turned out disastrous and we could imagine our brother yelled "KENAPA TAK SURUH PRO JE YANG BUAT!!"

So, after much thought, attempts, cucuk and un'cucuk', we finally managed to pull out these gorgeous hantaran using China white rose, pink carnation and purple eustoma. Don't you find them sweet? Heheheh.. sorry, I'm blowing my own trumpet here :p

I am sure when it comes to wedding decoration, Nas Great Ideas, Flora etc, Kerja Kahwin and Wedding by Sher are among the big names in the industry.


But I am just in love with Chenta Weddings by Indipop. Their wedding concept is so original, one of a kind and modern. I heart how they play with colours and showcase something new each time. A breath of fresh air amongst the abundance of butik pengantin / planner I tell ya. 


Why la I never heard of them 3 years ago when I was planning for my reception? Tensi! I wish I can get married all over again and have my wedding decorated by them. 


But then again, when money is not an object, I guess everyone (including me.. dah kahwin beranak satu, sudah, jangan berangan!) would definitely hire them. Definitely will consider booking them for my still single sister and youngest brother's wedding later. 


CW will be a force to be reckoned with and I am pretty sure that in a year or two, they will be fully booked to the brink that ppl with budget seciput like us just cannot afford them anymore :(

Wedding preps

My sister and I are planning to DIY certain things for my brother's wedding including centrepieces for the guest tables, decoration for the buffet tables as well hantaran for the bride. As for pelamin and main table, we leave them to the hand of the professionals, Merisik Gallery and team.


As a measure to prevent any disaster, we amateurs decided to give it a try before the big day and test our creative fingers. Postcall on Sunday, I forced my hubby along to a florist wholesaler in the middle of KL to get a bunch of reasonably priced flowers and went over to my sister's pad for the project men'DIY'.


These are the outcome.

Wedding centrepiece attempt #1.
We used a combination of shocking pink and light pink roses as well daisies
Pot/vase (whatever you call it) was bought from Ikea

We did not have enough flowers. As a result, a very 'togel' sponge.

Green ribbon and the real black dulang were left at mommy's house in Bangi.

Yes, I know, there is a room for improvement. But then again, I personally think that the end result is surprisingly okay for a first timer like us. What do you think? Ada harapan untuk kitorang tukar profession jadik wedding decorator macam Chenta Weddings :p

Planning a wedding

Since me and my elder brother's wedding Razeen 3 years ago, me and my sister have always been looking forward to planning a beautiful wedding. So now it's my brother's Rasis turn of being a groom and his reception will be held in the near future. So far, everything is running according to plan.


Theme: Tiffany blue with a dash of pastel pink and white
Venue: Home sweet home

1) Barang- barang hantaran bought my brother, baju bride and groom dia yang pilih. Cross finger that the design is okay since the future bride is currently in Egypt. So I hope my brother had a good taste.


2) Dulang and design for hantaran
My creative sister ambitiously wants to do it herself since upah orang will cost at least RM100/dulang using high grade artificial flowers. So far, what we have in mind is probably using white bekas decorated with blue hydrangea and pink flowers from SSF. It should be easy I hope? We are still searching for the right dulang but so far our attempt of finding one failed miserably. We went to SSF the other day but did not find one that we really like. My sister paid a visit to Romantika but she said tak banyak option. Then I guess wajib singgah Nilai 3 then.


3) We were impressed with the simple yet elegant pelamin by Merisik Gallery and will hire them for simple pelamin at home, main table deco, stairs deco, wedding favours and centrepieces. We would also like to use few lanterns at the tent and car porch. 


One of my favourite wedding decorators cum planners are Chenta Wedding and Wedding by Sher but it seemed like they cater for VIPs and those with a lot of $$$.. sigh.

4) Catering: not yet decided. 
I've tentatively booked Mazia Catering as I found good reviews on their food and service. But my dad on the other hand strongly wants another caterer, En Khalid something from Sg Kantan Kajang. Papa claimed that everyone in Bangi use him for their wedding. Yeahh.. rite..

5) Wedding card ordered (see previous entry) and paid. Just awaiting printing.


Tomorrow ada meeting tergempar dengan the rest of the family regarding my brother's wedding. My dad needs his update before he goes to Bangladesh. I hope my proposal of getting Mazia catering is accepted. Hmm.. kena buat kertas kerja nih!
