It's deliciozo!

My hubby will be spending his final week at his current work place before he makes a jump to another automotive company in Rawang. So he requested me to cook Shepherds Pie for his colleagues and his badminton playmates sebagai tanda farewell.

My first attempt last week turned out okay tapi taklah sedap sangat hingga menjilat jari. So I improvised here and there, asked from the sifu and walah, the outocome was something really scrumptiously yummy! Tak percaya? Tanya my hubby and my tummy, they'll never lie when it comes to good food.

Half gone in less than 10 minutes!

I'm not a great cook like some of you out there and I rarely cook at home unless my cravings forced me to. When it comes to Malay cuisine, I am hopeless siap call Mami kat umah mintak direction masak. But thank God Western food is easy,  and lucky me, my kampung borned husband also loves it!

Nak recipe Shepherds Pie? I can't really give you the exact sukatan or measurement since I ni selalu tukar2. Tak cukup masin, I tambah garam, tak cukup rasa masam, I'll add some tomato paste and etc. But I can roughly give you the recipe that I follow. I'll update you on the recipe on Tuesday kay as I need to go to sleep coz esok oncall huhuhu..

*************************************************************************************************
Shepherds aka Cottage Pie..
from Periplus Mini Cookbooks on Classic Essential Potatoes
tapi I adjust skit bahan2 dia ikut citarasa sendiri

Ingredients:

For the filling:
2 tbs butter
3 tbs olive oil
1 large onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic (not in the original recipe)
1 stick celery and carrot, finely diced
1 whole tomato and capsicum
(not in the original recipe but you can add any kind of vege that your family loves)
1 can of button mushroom, finely chopped
1kg minced meat
1 tbs plain flour
1 cup of water
1 tsp thyme
2 tbs tomato paste
2 tsp brown sugar
(if you dont have it at home, using usual granulated sugar also tasted fine)
3 tbs worchestire sauce
(not in the recipe but I added it for some tangy taste)
salt and pepper to taste

For the topping
1 kg local potato, peeled and quartered
100gm butter
1/2 cup of milk
1/2 cup of sour cream (my own version so that ada rasa masam2 ala2 Chillis skit)
Shredder Cheddar Cheese
salt and pepper to taste

1) Melt the butter and olive oil. Cook the onion over low heat for 5 minutes, then add garlic, cook another 1 minute until everything turned golden.
2) Add beef and let it boil. Add flour then add thyme, tomato paste, brown sugar and water. Then reduce the heat, and simmer, covered for 50-60 minutes.
2) Half way, add  carrot and let it slow cooked.
3) Later, put in all the vegetables and cook for another 5 minutes.
4) Towards the end of the cooking time, remove the lid to reduce the liquid to a thick sauce.
5) Season with salt and pepper
6) Transfer to an overproof casserole dish. Preheat the oven to moderate 180degrees.
7) To make the topping, boil the potatoes in salted water for 10-15 minutes or until tender.
8) Drain, then add butter (preferably chilled), milk, sour cream, salt and pepper.
9) Mash until smooth and fluffy
10) Spoon evenly over the meat and fluff up into peaks with a fork.
11) Sprinkle shredded cheddar on top.
12) Bake for about 30-40 minutes or until top is golden.

* Must eat when it is hot. You'll find it very deliciozo!!!

Nak sedondon

My brother is getting married in 2 months and our theme colour for the wedding reception is tiffany blue with a dash of pastel pink. We've bought tiffany blue schiffon for the ladies to make baju kurung and for the guys, we purchased turquoise satin for baju melayu.

I totally forgot about my little girl. I guess she also needs to wear sedondon with the rest. I don't want to spend hundreds bucks for a dress in which Hana will outgrown in few months time and I guess online shopping is the best option. I never bought a baby dress online before and this would be my first time doing so.

Blue is not a usual colour for girls so it is a bit difficult for me to find a perfect blue dress for my doter.

I love this one, perfectly suits the theme of the wedding unfortunately dah sold out!

The blue tone is not exactly what I have in mind, but for RM50, who can say no to this cute dress?

Hmm.. luckily ada FB, senang nak cari. I shall continue my online search for the right dress.. will update you once I found one.

Our recent PD getaway..

Lil missy is ready to go..
Premium Water Chalet.. not bad but I hate the wooden floor.. it creaks!
Yippee.. I am free to move.. iyah. iyah..
You'll encounter the whole big toilet before the bedroom.. kinda weird for me though..

There's a see through glass panel in front of the TV cabinet..

Hrmm.. nothing special as the water is murky!
Everyone was unhappy as Papa and Hana fall sick the whole time we were there..
But kudos to Hana, she remained a good gurl!

Anak Papa

On our way for breakfast

Hana, dats not your breakfast!

Funny, dalam toilet pun nak camwhoring!

I wish we can go there again but hopefully next time everyone will be in their pink of health. All in all, I recommend this place to everyone but because the pool is really small, you might consider going there during off peak season. If not, you can try curi2 swim next door at International Water Homes as the common pool is way bigger and less crowded.

Lazy mode..

When I was a houseman in my mid twenties, doing every other day calls (EOD) was routine and sleeping for only an hour or less within 48 hours was nothing. I was like ' bring it on' mode all the time. So enthusiastic, so bertenaga and so naive...

Nowadays, being over 30 years old, age already took a toll on me. I'm getting old and tired. I'll be anxious, having palpitation and insomnia a day ahead (famously called pre-call blues). Never can I do sleepless calls or else I'll have this zombie don't piss me off face the next day.

Sigh.. and I'm oncall tomorrow. Haihhh.. my misery never ends :(

Watch out!

I have four teeth and I can bite!

Happy belated 3rd anniversary!

I am currently blogging from Port Dickson. Yup, I know.. I'm back again in PD. But then again, what options do we have? It is the nearest beach to Klang Valley and we can't afford to travel far as Hana and my beloved husband are unwell, down with URTI.

Anyways, this is sort of our belated 3rd anniversary celebration since we haven't been away for a holiday for quite a while. What a better way than to utilize our free voucher from Legend Worldwide so off we go to their Water Chalet for a 3Ds and 2Ns stay.

Deluxe Water Chalet (1 king bed and a daybed)

We arrived late, almost 7pm and were greeted with a warm welcom by their friendly staffs at the reception. Check in was speedy and we were in for a pleasant surprise. Since the rooms here were almost fully occupied, we got upgraded from Deluxe to Premium Water Chalet worth RM525 for no extra charge! Thanks Legend for being so nice!

Premium Water Chalet

The room was actually quite well decorated. I know it's nothing like Avillion but then again, you get what you paid, right?! It has 2 beds, 1 king and 1 queen, which I find it very convenient for Hana to sleep as the queen bed is located at the corner. So at least I'm not that worried of Hana falling of the bed at night.

My biggest concern with the room is that you'll encounter the washroom (toilet and shower) first before the bedroom. Well, maybe it's just that I'm still not used to that idea.

The layout
Apart from that, the room has 2 solid glass panels that allows you to view the underneath murky seawater. I wasn't taken aback at all with the transparent glass unless the water is crystal clear with colourful fishes and corals like Perhentian Island.

Breakfast at Legend also was nothing to wow about. The food was dull and they don't offer much selection. The common swimming pool is quite small. Imagine staying during school holiday, I'm sure the pool if too full with kids and parents alike that the only thing you can do is just dipping you feet in the water!

On the brighter side, their room service is excellent. We faced problem with our WiFi connection and the hotel management attended to it immediately. Even came all the way to our room to fix it. Bravo on that! Finding a parking space is never a problem as they have tempat letak kereta bertingkat.

If you are bored and do not know what else to do during your vacation, you can test your skill at the archery or beach football fields. Or just cycle around the resort to break a sweat and of course, you can sing your hearts out by renting their karaoke room.

Okay, peeps, II shall stop here and will later upload the pictures as I did not bring my USB connection with me.

Toodles..

Guilty as charged!

I am depressed lately as I couldn't buy Longchamp handbag coz I did not pass my exam by only few marks (wiping tears). RM2500 just went down the drain :(

I desperately needed some sugar and comfort food. So I decided to order these sinfully delicious food for my Friday luncheon with my colleagues. *Luncheon konon, padahal makan dalam bilik oncall senyap2 with colleagues at the same time overdosed with hospital gossips*

Anyway, these were delivered right to our door step. Thanks Azlin for the luscious treats... hehehe. We couldn't even snap a picture as we were all famished, sooo busy eating (and gobbling up) that everything gone in split seconds!

Very rich Chicken Lasagna
Seriesly sedap Shepherds (cottage) Pie
Mini Quiches
 Chicken Wing (finger licking good!)
and super duper moisty Chocolate Cupcakes!

Wedding bells are ringing..

My brother is getting married in July. I just knew about it, like, practically last weekend!!!! He and Fatin got engaged 3 months ago but they haven't decide on the date until quite recently.

I guess my brother knows zilch when it comes to wedding and stuff. Gosh, that means a lot of planning to do from invitation card, door gift, hantaran, catering, room decoration and etc. Nak survey harga lagi. My goodness, the list just doesn't stop!

Ish x3, macam empunya diri pulak yang nak naik pelamin lagi :p

So far, I am eyeing on this:

Pelamins from Merisik Gallery

Invitation card

Gift box ( what to put inside? Red velvet cuppies or macarons?)

Everything involves money rite? Nothing comes cheap these days.. Sigh, thinking of my own baby girl's wedding in 25 years time...

FYI.. On cerelac

As a doctor, I received free trial boxes of Cerelac from Nestle. So I was excited to let Hana get the taste of it since she is getting tired of avocado, apple etc..

However, I just realized that Cerelac Stage 2 (and several types of stage 1) contained cows milk. No wonder Hana, who suffers from cows milk protein allergy developed rashes soon after eating the cereal. How sad, since she just enjoyed them.

I guess it's back to plain rice cereal + fruit/vege puree combo and porridge then..

Hana, you are 9 months old today!!

It is good to have lilypie count-up on my blog as a constant reminder of how old my baby is. Today, she has officially reached 9 months of life.

I just love her company these days as she is more playful and starts to understand concept of how certain things work. She loves clapping and swaying whenever I sing to her and purposely cough whenever I ehem ehem. My goodness, she is a pro when it comes to commando crawl, moving faster that I simply can't leave her out of sight! Hana cut her first two lower incisors when she was 8 months old. As for now, I can see 2 of her upper incisors are starting to erupt. Well, it is time for finger food then :)

Hana's favourite work out!

Talking about food, my sensitive little Hana still has multiple food allergy. Though she can now tolerate apple unfortunately I recently discovered that she she would develop rashes around the mouth whenever she takes Cerelac stage 2 and up (the ones pre-mixed with chicken/fruit). As much as she enjoyed the taste (always asked for more) the only cereal that she is not allergic to is the plain rice cereal.

Poor girl. Basically, her routine diet nowadays consist of porridge + vegetable + chicken (tried salmon but she develop prolonged bouts of cough for almost a month), fruits/vegetable for lunch (avocado / pear / pumpkin) and back to porridge for dinner.

I just went to a talk organized by Nestle last night on prevention of allergy at The Westin, Bukit Bintang. FYI pediatric allergy has become an increasingly troublesome condition not just to the child but also the parents (ask me how much hypoallergenic formula cost!).  It is estimated that 1 in 3 people in Malaysia are allergic to something and the figure is expected to rise to 1 in 2 by the year 2020!

On that note, I will probably write an entry on that particular topic later...Okay, signing off at the moment.. Bye peeps, enjoy your Sunday..

My kinda tune...

This is my favourite song at the moment. I am realllllllly2 in love with Bruno Mars and listening to this melody in particular just elated my mood. It is a song that I would sing along VERY LOUDLY in the car (when I'm alone of course or Hana at the back seat would think mama is crazy :p.

Once it is on air, I would just have a smile plastered on my face, my fingers magically start tapping on the wheel, my feet begin to thump and my heart just soar with happiness. I feel like I'm on cloud nine..

Okay girls, let's sing it together..Hit it!

It's a beautiful night
We're looking for something dumb to do
Hey baby
I think I wanna marry you

Is it the look in your eyes
Or is it this dancing juice?
Who cares, baby
I think I wanna marry you

Well, I know this little chapel
On the boulevard we can go
No one will know
Oh, come on girl

Who cares if we're trashed
Got a pocket full of cash we can blow
Shots of patron
And it's on, girl

Don't say no, no, no, no, no
Just say yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
And we'll go, go, go, go, go
If you're ready, like I'm ready

'Cause it's a beautiful night
We're looking for something dumb to do
Hey baby
I think I wanna marry you

Is it the look in your eyes
Or is it this dancing juice?
Who cares, baby
I think I wanna marry you

I'll go get a ring
Let the choir bells sing like
Ooh, so what ya wanna do?
Let's just run, girl

If we wake up and you
Wanna break up, that's cool
No, I won't blame you
It was fun, girl

Don't say no, no, no, no, no
Just say yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
And we'll go, go, go, go, go
If you're ready, like I'm ready

'Cause it's a beautiful night
We're looking for something dumb to do
Hey baby
I think I wanna marry you

Is it the look in your eyes
Or is it this dancing juice?
Who cares, baby
I think I wanna marry you

Just say I do
Tell me right now, baby
Tell me right now, baby, baby

Just say I do
Tell me right now, baby
Tell me right now, baby, baby, oh

It's a beautiful night
We're looking for something dumb to do
Hey baby
I think I wanna marry you

Is it the look in your eyes
Or is it this dancing juice
Who cares, baby
I think I wanna marry you

Domestic helper needed ASAP!

My mom's maid recently ran after we found out that she is PREGNANT!!! She denied it till the end despite 2 positive urine pregnancy tests and 1 positive blood HCG adamantly saying that the doctor in the clinic was trying to sabotage her. She practically told my mom that she'll go and see a doktor pakar herself and prove us all wrong. But she needed her 1 month salary in advance for her to do that.

What, she thought that we are all dumb and stupid and that doctors in Malaysia can be bribed easily? Puhleeesseeee... My mom dah tawar hati sangat2 and was really happy when the maid finally flee away. Nak citer pasal keburukan dia memang banyak sangat but that is not the main point of this entry.

Anyways, my 64 year old mom is maidless at the moment. She has to take care of my dad, my 2 brothers and my sis in law who just gave birth 10 days ago. Unfortunately my mom, being a perfectionist will usually gets carried away with the house chores that at the end of the day akan jatuh sakit.. lenguh badan, demam, pening etc..

Once in 2 weeks, I will lend my maid for a day to help out with ironing and cleaning but that is a temporary thing. I need to find a day time maid for her before she overworked and fall sick again.. Anyone has any number that I can contact? Desperately need  a daytime maid that can work  2- 3 times a week 3-4 hours in a day in Bangi.

Thanks for your help.

My first groupons!

I've been wanting to attend Mac classes for ages but baking class is just a tad pricey. So when I stumbled upon this great offer on Groupsmore, I quickly grabbed the groupons in no time!

3 hours hand on macaroons baking workshop for a mere RM 90 instead of the usual RM 220  (55% off)!!

This is quite a bargain rite?!! The class will be held at Taylor's College and will be handled by a proffesional pastry chef of 24 years experience! Hey, learning from the masterchef himself, who could resist the temptation!

This is part of the advertorial taken from the website..

*****************************************************************************

Before desserts became an after meal indulgence, sugar was mostly used to feed stray ants and the kid next door. Sweeten your after dinner treats with today’s Groupon: for RM99, you get a three-hour hands-on macaroon baking class worth RM220.

Revisit the halcyon days of education years without the weight of exams or peer pressure to party. Chef Karam, a macaroon master trained by the illustrious Ladurée, showcases his 24 years experience by demonstrating the making and baking process. A simple demo is conducted after which budding pastry professors test their skill with the provided tools and ingredients.

Students get to bring home five to ten macaroons, depending on how many were successfully made or accidentally eaten. Macaroon makers are advised to wear non-slip footwear, t-shirt and long pants but slippers are not allowed. A container for the macaroons should also be brought to avoid having to eat everything before leaving.
